Description
This is one of the most desired original Aurora accessories: An electric lap counter that will accurately count laps for two lanes [with original, reversible lane number plates that can be used to mark lanes 3 and 4 when using two units on a four lane race track] up to 99 laps.Yes, a real upgrade from the manual 10 lap counter! Now you can race to 100!
These units operate on power separate from the track [advisable to be either centered about opposite from the power track since this will interrupt the power going through the track, so the power track pushes the cars to this track then pulls them to it on the other side, or add another power track -if a large layout- bringing power into the track from the controllers in more than one place on the track]. The way it works is to provide about 1/2 or 3/4 throttle across the track as the counter reacts and counts the lap, so it should specifically not be placed right after or before a turn and instead should have at least one straight [preferably several] leading up to it and after it for best control of the cars.
Instructions would have you hook it to your track's transformer but I have always preferred to feed the lap counter with it's own dedicated to it alone transformer. This way the best and smoothest power runs both cars across [otherwise if another car is at full throttle and using allot of power the car crossing the lap counter track is reduced in power and drives across more slowly] so I am including a transformer with this set so it will be sure to work perfectly for you.
The unit is very presentable, tested and working perfectly [so many, with age, come looking good but not working reliably]. It is with it's original [worn] box and a copy of the instructions, as well as wiring and, of course, it's own transformer.
Check pictures and e-mail with any questions. This is a very nice addition for any serious track [race course]. Take it from me, you haven't lived till you have your first 100 lap race against your closest competition. [I used to make rules about how many times you could "pit stop" to oil your car or clean the tires. -Of course the other guy is still driving full out, but if you get far enough ahead a little oil and clean tires can help allot soon as you're back out there] [when I was 13 I had a course that my fastest lap was 2 minutes 12 seconds. A hundred lap race typically would take about 2 1/2 hours. Serious stuff! Concentration test. And if one of us was called to dinner our rule was each to cross the lap counter from the lap they are on and stop there for the race to continue from that point]
Hope this finds some good use! I always pack carefully and will do my best to see you get it safely, so you can hook it up and race right away. Enjoy!
